Parents will interact with their child as they learn aspects of hand & eye coordination, balance, throwing, catching, locomotor skills, juggling, rhythms, muscle memory, kicking, jumping, and basic movement skills. This camp offers a variety of sports including Soccer, T-ball, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, and Rhythms. Children will have the opportunity to play with others, making friendships along the way. SRTS provides 4 safe routes for children to get active by walking and biking to school one day a week during the fall and spring. Children who attend public and parochial elementary schools in Fairmont benefit by exercising with peers in a safe, chaperoned environment. Walkers and bikers are brought to their respective schools by crosswalk guards and adult volunteers along safe routes. The chaperoned routes will begin at the following locations: Route 1 Corner of Day Street & South Orient (7:45am), Route 2 Begins at the Fairmont Aquatic Park (7:30am), Route 3 Begins at St Paul Lutheran School Playground (7:40am) & Route 4 Begins at Grace Lutheran Church (7:30am). The beginning locations of each route are also designated SRTS Safe Zones. Parents are encouraged to use the drop points to promote walking for fitness and avoid the congestion at Fairmont Elementary School. | |
